Indie mystery game Return of the Obra Dinn is coming to the Nintendo Switch. The Return of the Obra Dinn Switch version is coming to the console later this year, though a set release date has not yet been announced.
Nintendo announced the Obra Dinn Switch release during today’s Nintendo Direct. While an exact release date hasn’t been set for the game, Nintendo announced that Obra Dinn will come to Switch this fall. Return of the Obra Dinn’s creator, Lucas Pope, teased an Obra Dinn Switch port (along with a possible VR game) this April, but today’s Direct was the first official confirmation we’ve seen of the Obra Dinn Switch version.

Announced in September 2018 and released in October 2018, Return of the Obra Dinn was met with critical acclaim, earning an 89 on Metacritic. The game puts players in the role of an insurance collector who must investigate a series of deaths on a sailing ship called the Obra Dinn. Players use a special device to view the moment of a particular crew members’ death, piecing together evidence to determine each person’s identity and details about the events that led to their deaths. Return of the Obra Dinn earned praise for its immersive setup that lets players feel like a real detective. Developer Lucas Pope previously created hit indie game Papers, Please.
During the Nintendo Direct today, the company also announced several major releases coming to the Switch: First up was the long-rumored and recently leaked Overwatch Switch port announcement, which finally got an official release date (it’s set to arrive fairly soon). Nintendo announced Super Kirby Clash, a free-to-start multiplayer Kirby game releasing today. The company closed out the Direct with the announcement of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, which will bring the sprawling Wii JRPG to the Switch in HD sometime next year.
