Suda51 and Swery65 secret project reveal coming

Two of the most outlandish and appreciated game designers in the video game industry are about to reveal an unparalleled collaboration effort. The Suda51 and Swery65 secret project is going to be detailed tomorrow, October 23, but fans aren’t quite sure what to expect from the reveal.

Judging by the designers’ personal track record, all bets are on a horror game, or at least a surreal adventure set in a nightmarish landscape featuring an eclectic cast with no shortage of over-the-top characters.

ALSO: New Batman game may be called Batman: Arkham Legacy

The Suda51 and Swery65 secret project reveal will happen during the IGN Japan “Travis Monday Nightro 2” livestream, with the two designers delving into the details for the first time. While we shouldn’t entirely rule out the possibility that this partnership is related to upcoming No More Heroes 3, this doesn’t seem to fit into the definition of secret project, so it is bound to be a completely original game.

Many players are overjoyed with the collaboration of the two accomplished designers, but others are somewhat fearful that their styles may end up canceling each other out. The unique quirkiness that Suda51 and Swery65 bring to their projects is what makes them stand apart from the competition, and while in theory this is a match made in heaven, it’s understandable why some fans are afraid of such an explosive mixture.

Suda51 and Swery65 secret project No More Heroes 3

Suda51 became noticed for his early work on The Silver Case and Killer7, two games that were already telling of his knack for intricate stories and intriguing characters. While the No More Heroes franchise is his most popular brand, he took one sporadic turn into high school territory with the zombie outbreak of Lollipop Chainsaw, as well as a few stabs at the horror genre with Shadows of the Damned, Let it Die, and Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse.

Swery65’s claim to fame is the cult classic Deadly Premonition, a survival horror game that is as enthralling as it is befuddling and appallingly executed. Deadly Premonition 2 is in development for Nintendo Switch with a release slated for 2020, and hopefully will come with less bugs.
