Conan O’Brien is in Death Stranding after meeting Hideo Kojima

Conan O’Brien is in Death Stranding, with the late-night talk show host having been added into the game after meeting its creator, Hideo Kojima. Conan’s scene in the game was revealed after the host visited Kojima Productions’ offices in Japan, with the studio motion-capturing the comedian in order to have him appear in a cutscene.

In the latest episode of Conan, O’Brien’s visit to Kojima’s studio was shown, including him browsing through the legendary developer’s toy collection and being shown some Death Stranding gameplay. Conan also managed to get Kojima to reveal that Norman Reedus had asked for his character’s body to be “more muscular.”

Conan is then offered a part in the game, with the host being motion-captured in the Kojima Productions studio. Unlike The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley, who is also set to make a cameo appearance in Death Stranding, it certainly seems like Conan got the opportunity to voice his own character.

After the Conan O’Brien appearance, Kojima posted a second video highlighting more cutscenes with Conan’s character. Kojima states that the character is called “The Wondering MC,” and that players will get the Sea Otter Suit when they connect with him. The Sea Otter Suit will allow players to “swim easily in the river,” preventing them from being “drifted away.”

While Conan O’Brien’s cameo appearance in Death Stranding may seem odd, he’s far from the only celebrity to lend his talents to the game. Along with The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus portraying protagonist Sam Porter Bridges, Mads Mikkelsen is also taking on the role of antagonist Cliff, while Guillermo del Toro provided his likeness for the character Deadman.

Death Stranding will release on PS4 on November 8, 2019.
