One of the significant advantages of the Switch is that you can use it on the go, and Nintendo is looking to capitalize on that image in a few airports across the country. Nintendo Switch pop-up lounges will appear in several airports beginning later this month, and they’ll be used to highlight unique experiences on the console to travelers.
Travelers will get an opportunity to try the Switch at these pop-up lounges in both docked and handheld modes. There will also be USB-C charging available for those who already have a Switch, though presumably, Nintendo will be kind enough to let you charge your phone as well.

You’ll be able to check out the following games at the Nintendo Switch pop-up lounges:
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Super Mario Odyssey
- Super Mario Party
- Tetris 99
Unfortunately, these lounges won’t be available for long. Dates and locations are as follows:
- Chicago, Illinois: O’Hare International Airport (ORD) – February 17 to March 29
- Dallas, Texas: Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL) – February 13 to March 26
- Seattle, Washington: Tacoma International Airport (SEA) – February 17 to March 29
- Washington, D.C.: Dulles International Airport (IAD) – February 17 to March 29
Those who visit the Nintendo Switch pop-up lounges can purchase a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite and receive a free case to carry it in. Everyone who attends gets a few goodies, including a Switch-branded luggage handle wrap and a Target coupon that saves $10 off any purchase of Nintendo products totaling $75 or more.
Whether this is a one-off event or the beginning of a regular practice by Nintendo hasn’t been announced yet. Marketing at airports is a wise move, considering the vast amount of tired people who are stuck in one place for long periods of time. What better way to raise awareness of the Switch or sell some games than to market to a captive audience?
