The folks over at Valve will be making an announcement sometime next week–one that is almost certainly related to the long-awaited Steam Box we've heard so much about in the past.
During LinuxCon, Valve boss Gabe Newell praised the Linux platform, saying, "It feels a little bit funny coming here and telling you guys that Linux and open source are the future of gaming. It's sort of like going to Rome and teaching Catholicism to the pope."
He then went on to tease the aforementioned announcement that we can only hope provides more details on the Steam Box. "Next week we're going to be rolling out more information about how we get there and what are the hardware opportunities we see for bringing Linux into the living room."
What do you think of the Linux platform? Is it really going to be the "future of gaming?" Let us know in the comments below.
