Anthem Next will be a ‘longer process’ but BioWare promises regular updates

Anthem Next is BioWare’s upcoming relaunch of the poorly received loot shooter and it appears as though it’s going to take quite some time. Studio Director Christian Daily said it would be a “longer process” as they the small team aims to right the ship. No time frame was given, but BioWare is going to bring players along for the ride with regular updates.

Daily revealed this in a blog post on BioWare’s website. In addition to posting a photo of him with his three dogs and human baby, he talked about lurking on the internet for feedback on Anthem. And all of that has led the game being in its incubation phase where ideas are tested.

This is crucial to development so the roughly 30-person team (a size that afford them agility, according to Daily) can find what works. He even cited some success as they recently hit their first milestone. However, he didn’t pretend like this would be a quick turnaround.

“Spoiler – this is going to be a longer process,” he admitted. “And yes, the team is small but the whole point of this is to take our time and go back to the drawing board. And a small team gives us the agility a larger one can’t afford.”

But BioWare is inviting players to have a look at the process.

“We want to include you as we go and be open and honest with where we are at and what the expectations are with where we are going,” he said. “We really want to provide you all the transparency we can because of your passion and interest in Anthem. But, with that comes seeing how the sausage is made – which is not always pretty by the way.”

This blog post marks the first of these updates, despite not unveiling how regular these inclusive posts will be (but that information is allegedly coming “soon”). He even said there could be livestreams, concept art, or other forms of communication. Hopefully, this will lead to a better game that’s worth the trouble as the game had some large problems, but at least it sounds like BioWare is committed to figuring it out.
