Destiny 2 Beyond Light pre-order digital deluxe edition

Destiny 2 Beyond Light delayed

The upcoming Destiny 2 expansion, Beyond Light, has been delayed according to a blog post on Bungie’s website. Beyond Light is to be the first in a trilogy of expansions set to release over the next three years. However, the continuing global pandemic has set Bungie back, and the studio doesn’t believe it can meet quality standards if Destiny 2: Beyond Light releases on the original launch date of September 22.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is set to feature the most changes in an expansion to date. In addition to the new campaign, Beyond Light will debut the Destiny Content Vault. With this sure-to-be controversial feature, Bungie will begin vaulting content that it feels is no longer relevant so it can be polished and possibly added back further down the line. With Beyond Light, these locations will be leaving the game for the foreseeable future:

  • Io
  • The Leviathan
  • Mars
  • Mercury
  • Titan

Being added is:

  • Cosmodrome
  • Europa

Beyond Light will also debut the first new damage type since the series debuted: Stasis. It seems like Stasis is somehow tied to the Guardian tapping into the power of the Darkness, which is a central idea of the upcoming trilogy of expansions. We’ll also finally get to see Europa and learn more of The Drifter, Eris Morn, and the Exo Stranger’s backstories.

Despite Destiny 2: Beyond Light being delayed, fans do get a small consolation. The Season of Arrivals will be extended to November 10, so players will get some extra time to complete the seasonal activities.

On November 10, the Seasons of Arrivals will end, and Destiny 2: Beyond Light will launch. You can pre-order the game now on all platforms. The standard edition retails for $39.99, and the standard version with season pass is priced at $49.99. Alternatively, you can go all out and pick up the deluxe edition for $69.99.
