Professional provocateur and YouTuber Jake Paul had an encounter with an FBI SWAT team this morning. The FBI served a federal search warrant on Paul early this morning, and TMZ footage showed at least five vehicles carrying upward of 20 agents were involved in the raid.
The reason for the raid wasn’t revealed as it was done under the authority of a sealed warrant. An FBI spokesperson gave the following statement concerning the search to the Los Angeles Times:
“The FBI is executing a federal search warrant at a residence in Calabasas in connection with an ongoing investigation. The affidavit in support of the search warrant has been sealed by a judge and I am, therefore, prohibited from commenting as to the nature of the investigation. No arrests are planned.”
Jake Paul hasn’t released a statement about the search yet. Local ABC7’s chopper was over the scene during the raid. That agency stated that the FBI seized several firearms, but made no arrests.
This isn’t Jake Paul’s first run-in with the law. He was arrested on misdemeanor charges in June when he was caught taping in a mall while it was being looted. He was charged with criminal trespass and unlawful assembly. However, he stated that he had not been involved with any looting or vandalism and was simply documenting the scene.
Most recently, Paul took heat for throwing a massive party at his Calabasas mansion in mid-July according to Fox11. Witnesses stated that the gathering lasted all day and night, and guests didn’t wear masks or follow social distancing guidelines. Paul wasn’t charged with breaking any laws for hosting the party. Still, Calasasas Mayor Alicia Weintraub stated she would be working with local authorities to prevent similar gatherings from occurring in the future.
This story has yet to unfold. It’s not clear whether the raid on Jake Paul’s mansion has a connection with last month’s party, or if it involves a new, unknown incident.
