Square Enix has announced that Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX is on its way to PlayStation 3 in 2014.
The game will be released in Japan, Europe, and the Americas and include playable versions of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix. Cinemas from Kingdom Hearts RE: Coded will be available, though gameplay will not, just like the treatment 358/2 Days got in the first HD re-release. I totally called that.
Don't be surprised if Kingdom Hearts III doesn't show up until 2015, now. Sometimes people ask why the heck Square Enix doesn't just buckle down and release the next game in a this-or-that series and, well, this is why. The company can redo old games for far less cost and reduced effort (no need to write a story, design levels, etc.), ship those out, get more money from you with just as good of a profit margin if not higher, and you'll be happy about it.
This is also why these games were split up into two packages instead of one; Square Enix knows that it can get $80 more dollars from you, for visual upgrades to old content, and you'll be glad to pay it. You're happy, Square Enix is happy; it really works out well for everyone.
