Yakuza Like a Dragon release date trailer

Yakuza: Like a Dragon release date revealed in new trailer

Yakuza: Like a Dragon got a release date with the release of today’s trailer. Previously, it was revealed that the game would launch alongside the next generation of hardware, and now we know what day that’ll be: November 13.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon embraces the franchise’s goofy humor like never before. Unlike its predecessors, which are action RPGs, Like a Dragon is a turn-based RPG. As such, it features some typical RPG trappings like classes. However, you won’t be working with your standard warriors, mages, and rogues. Instead, you’ll be taking on various occupations to give your characters skills typical to these jobs.

The trailer highlights several of the 20+ jobs your party will be able to obtain during your adventure. The Breaker breakdances against enemies and uses Capoeira-like physical attacks. The Idol uses cute attacks and calls on their fans for assistance. The Host seems to be a heavy physical attacker. The Dealer attacks enemies with games of chance, including spinning a roulette wheel to determine the outcome of a move. The Musician seems to work in status buffs and debuffs and attacks that hit multiple targets. Lastly, the Chef seems to be another heavy physical attacker, and we’d bet they can provide buffs to allies by cooking food.

The game will be coming to Xbox One X, Xbox One, PS4, and Steam on November 13. However, the game will also be available as a launch title on Xbox Series X. Whether or not that console will launch on November 13 wasn’t confirmed, and Microsoft still hasn’t set a solid date for the system’s release. Yakuza: Like a Dragon will also be available on the PS5 at a later date.

This is the first main game in the Yakuza series to receive an English dub since the localization of the original game on PS2 in 2005. Like a Dragon did well in Japan, and we’re eager to try this new take on the Yakuza formula.
