The most recent datamine was correct: The Mortal Kombat 11 Rambo, Mileena, and Rain DLC is officially coming to the game. NetherRealm released a trailer for these three characters as well as Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, the game’s next big expansion, which is releasing on November 17. This expansion comes alongside a new PS5 and Xbox Series X port of MK11.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X port will also have an upgrade path for PS4 and Xbox One owners starting on November 17 and it will be a free upgrade for existing MK11 owners. It will support a dynamic 4K resolution, visual upgrades, faster load times, and cross-play and cross-gen. MK11 already has cross-play with PS4 and Xbox One so it isn’t exactly clear which platforms will have it, but this means it will cross-play with the PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X versions.
Ultimate upgrades featuring the three characters will be $15. It will also only be releasing on Switch digitally in the Americas and it will be digital on PC worldwide. Physical PS4 editions will be coming in January. No word was given on either Xbox version or the PS5 port.
NetherRealm has been teasing new content for at least a few weeks now. Ed Boon has been tweeting a few vague teasers here and there, but finally gave a more concrete tease on October 6 that strongly hinted that Rambo was indeed coming to the game. Of course, Rambo might have been an easy go-to since of the datamined “RAM” character files. “RAN” and “MIL” were also in that datamine, which also made it easy to jump to conclusions of it being Rain and Mileena. Rambo will also be voiced by Sylvester Stallone himself, unlike Terminator, who is voiced by an Arnold Schwarzenegger sound alike.

The Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate release date is November 17 for all platforms. It doesn’t look like each character will release at different times and will come out all at once similar to Aftermath.
Mortal Kombat 11 fans have grown quite antsy in the months since Aftermath’s release in May. NetherRealm didn’t release any major updates in that time, causing many to criticize the game for growing stale. This repackaging has the chance to revitalize the well-received fighting game and bring it to a healthy spot, which puts a lot of pressure on it.
