The upcoming Resident Evil movie reboot is looking like it might be the most faithful adaptation of the games yet — new photos from the set show a helicopter and Spencer Mansion, hinting that this iconic location will be a central focus of the films.
Back in 2018, a reboot of the Resident Evil film franchise was announced. At the time, it was said to be based on the plot of Resident Evil 7, but a recent reveal of the cast shows that the original adaptation will likely cover the events of the first two or three games. Now, some new set photos have popped up online via Game Informer, giving us a first look at one of the locations that will feature in this upcoming reboot of the blockbuster film franchise.

The Resident Evil games certainly had their fair share of problems over the years, but the movies were an altogether different story. One of the biggest changes was the introduction of the main character Alice played by Milla Jovovich, an entirely original creation for the films. Having the protagonist as an all-new character isn’t a great sign for a faithful adaptation and this new movie is already avoiding that problem with its cast — and these new set photos might give fans hope, too.
The plot of the first Resident Evil game was somewhat more contained than the franchise’s many sequels. Players would take on the role of either Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine as they explored Spencer Mansion, attempting to rescue the other playable character and uncover the source of a number of mysterious deaths around Raccoon City. At the end of the game, players would escape from the mansion via a helicopter. If they made the right choices, the mansion would be destroyed, the good guys would survive, and the biggest threat would have been defeated.
A helicopter and the façade of a mansion feature prominently in the four photos. The mansion looks somewhat incomplete, but there are two explanations for that: either the set is still under construction or it’s only meant to be a physical location for the actors with the remainder of the mansion being created with CGI. While the story of the new film isn’t going to be 100% accurate to the games, the context of these images when one understands the ending of the first game means that it might be a much more accurate adaptation than the Milla Jovovich films.
