Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 5 is now the company's best-selling game, outpacing the legendary Street Fighter II.
Since it first launched back in 2009, the fifth installment in Capcom's iconic horror franchise has gone on to sell a whopping 6.5 million units. Until that point, the aforementioned Street Fighter II held the number one spot with 6.3 million in sales. Believe it or not, last year's polarizing Resident Evil 6 trails closely behind with 5.2 million units sold.
As such, it should come as no surprise that Resident Evil is the publisher's most successful franchise overall with staggering 60 million in sales across the entire series. Placing second is the Monster Hunter franchise, with 27 million units sold within the confines of the IP. Not too shabby.
From a financial standpoint, Capcom has done quite well over the past six months, with a 16.9 percent bump to 53 billion yen for the period ending September 2013.
