Despite the issues Cyberpunk 2077 has faced since launch, it seems CD Projekt Red will be going forward with plans to release free DLC soon. As with The Witcher 3, the studio plans on offering free DLC on a level that at least matches that of its previous game. A new webpage has been added to the official site teasing the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, though no details have been released yet.
When will Cyberpunk 2077‘s free DLC get a release date?
The free DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 will likely get a release date sometime in early 2021. The teaser site lists that window for the launch of the new content.
In addition to standard patches, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt got the following 16 free DLC packs:
- Alternative Look for Ciri
- Alternative Look for Triss
- Alternative Look for Yennefer
- Ballad Heroes’ Neutral Gwent Card Set
- Beard and Hairstyle Set
- Elite Crossbow Set
- New Finisher Animations
- NEW GAME +
- New Quest – ‘Contract: Missing Miners’
- New Quest – ‘Contract: Skellige’s Most Wanted’
- New Quest – ‘Fool’s Gold’
- New Quest – ‘Scavenger Hunt: Wolf School Gear’
- New Quest – ‘Where the Cat and Wolf Play…’
- Nilfgaardian Armor Set
- Skellige Armor Set
- Temerian Armor Set
Two pieces of The Witcher 3 free DLC were released weekly for the eight weeks following the game’s release. Obviously, Cyberpunk 2077 has missed that window, but players can assume that free DLC for that game will be released in fairly rapid succession if CD Projekt Red follows the same formula.
What will be in the Cyberpunk 2077 free DLC?
CD Projekt Red hasn’t released any details about the content of the free DLC for Cyberpunk 2077. Given the complaints around customization, it’s likely we’ll see the ability to change the character’s look after initial creation added. It’s also possible that we’ll get the ability to choose which colors our owned cars spawn with and what skin crafted weapons will use.
There are many technical issues with Cyberpunk 2077 and obviously missing features, so we’ll hopefully see some of those issues addressed in the DLC or as part of one of the large patches scheduled for January and February.
