Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 delayed

Cyberpunk 2077’s February patch won’t be arriving this month

Cyberpunk 2077 seemingly can’t catch a break. The futuristic RPG had a controversial launch, to say the least, which led to CD Projekt RED promising significant updates. According to the outlined schedule, Cyberpunk 2077 patch 1.2 (the most significant update yet) should’ve been launching anytime now. Instead, a delay will see its release in the second half of March at the earliest.

When is the new Cyberpunk 2077 patch 1.2 update release date?

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 delayed

After swathes of players found that Cyberpunk 2077 left them somewhat wanting, feeling suitably chastised, the developer made an official statement on what went wrong. Alongside the apology, CDPR unveiled its roadmap to recovery that would see the game achieve its full potential across all platforms. Now, however, that journey will require a scenic detour.

The new target Cyberpunk 2077 patch 1.2 release date is late March 2021. CD Projekt RED states that it needs “some additional time” and is now “aiming for release in the second half of March.” No exact date was specified, and it is possible that the window could be pushed back even further.

CDPR cites a recent cyberattack for the “unfortunate” delay. Reportedly, a combination of the update’s ambitious scope and illegal tampering with the studio’s IT infrastructure is at fault.

Hopefully, the Cyberpunk 1.2 update will eventually be worth the wait. CDPR promises that “numerous overall quality improvements and fixes” will be included. Rather than risking another controversy, in order to “launch this update properly,” the rollout received a delay across all formats.

If the CD Projekt hack is indeed at fault, it’s an unfortunate situation. While the delay is largely out of CDPR’s hands, the company is understandably facing criticism over the Cyberpunk 2077 update 1.2 delay on social media.

Additional news should drop as launch day approaches. For now, though, expect Cyberpunk patch 1.2 to release in the latter half of March on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Google Stadia.
