Pokemon Legends Arceus boss fights

Pokemon Legends finally lets Pokemon beat the hell out of trainers

Game Freak’s Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a departure for the series in more ways than one. For the first time ever, Pokemon will be able to harm humans in the upcoming Sinnoh region-set prequel. During the latest Pokemon Presents live stream, a Luxray uses its Thunderbolt attack to strike the player character down. Any Pokemon with glowing red eyes will attempt to attack Trainers on sight, so players will need to be extra careful during these Pokemon Legends: Arceus boss fights.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus boss fights can be hazardous to Trainers’ health

Pokemon Legends Arceus boss fights

Pokemon Legends: Arceus features boss encounters in which players must battle feral Pokemon with glowing red eyes. These crazed Pokemon will attack Trainers and include the likes of Luxray, Ursaring, and Gyarados.

Battling and capturing boss Pokemon will tame them, adding the once-hostile creatures to the Trainer’s team. While that’s a familiar mechanic, so far, humans and Pokemon have mostly lived in harmony together. Things are different this time due to Pokemon Legends: Arceus being a prequel. Set during the earliest point players have seen yet, the game is a “tale of a time long ago when the lives of humans and Pokemon were still separate.”

Due to this shift in the timeframe, some characters within the Nintendo Switch game have varying opinions on Pokemon. During the latest trailer, Professor Laventon exclaims that “Pokemon are terrifying creatures!” That’s a massive departure from the harmonious cohabitation that players see elsewhere in the franchise. Combined with a shift towards action-oriented gameplay, Pokemon Legends looks to be the biggest departure for the series in years.

Another new addition is that of Pokemon Legends: Arceus mounts. While rideable Pokemon further separate the game from those before it, there’s still plenty on the way for classic fans. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are Gen IV remakes that are overhauling fan-favorite features.
