Resident Evil Revisited Mod

Resident Evil REvisited mod aims to serve as a prequel to RE1

There’s some incredible work coming from the Resident Evil modding community. Recently, one mod in particular for the PC version of RE2 caught my eye. The newly revealed Resident Evil REvisited is a collaborative effort that is aimed at serving as a prequel to the original game and as a bridge to the SD Perry novels.

What is the Resident Evil REvisted mod?

The Resident Evil REvisted mod serves as a prequel to RE1. It takes us to the Arklay Mountains and Spencer Mansion before the original game’s events when the outbreak was in its infant stages. The playable character, Trent (aka Victor Darius), in this mod will be familiar to fans of the SD Perry novels. He’s an Umbrella agent sent to collect valuable data from the Spencer Mansion, and he’ll have to fight through zombies, puzzles, and other obstacles to get it.

In the trailer, we can see the team behind the mod has created some original areas and adapted others. We know that part of it will take place in the Spencer Mansion, but it won’t just be ripped straight from the original game. Instead, the modders have expanded it by adding areas from the GameCube remake. The motel in the trailer is also exciting as it’s adapted from one of Resident Evil Outbreak’s cut scenarios. We’ll also get to explore areas in the Arklay Mountains for the first time.

Of course, as with many fan projects, we can’t be sure that we’ll ever see a full release of Resident Evil REvisited. Many promising RE mods have made good progress and been abandoned over the years. However, the team claims a demo is coming soon, which is a good sign. There’s no firm release date for the demo, so we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed and hope it comes out soon.
