Horizon Forbidden West — the first PlayStation exclusive of 2022 — has topped the UK charts in its opening weekend. Data collected by Ukie shows the anticipated sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn has topped the UK boxed sales in the week ending 19 February. The data does not count digital sales (expected next week), so does not tell the full picture of the game’s launch sales.
Forbidden West is the second biggest PS5 launch so far, ahead of FIFA 22 but behind Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Guerrilla Games’ title is also the second biggest launch of 2022, behind Nintendo’s Pokemon Legends. Numbers from Christopher Dring of GamesIndustry.biz confirm physical sales are down ‘around’ a third compared to the launch sales of Horizon Zero Dawn. Dring says this is not surprising considering still the limited availability of the PlayStation 5 and the rise of digital media in recent years.
Decent opening for Horizon: Forbidden West in the UK Boxed charts (where it's at No.1). Second biggest PS5 retail launch after Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Almost a third of sales were on PS4. Second biggest launch of the year after Pokemon Legends

Horizon Forbidden West PS5 sales beat Pokemon, Dying Light 2
As for the rest of the top ten, Pokémon Legends: Arceus drops down to second spot in the charts, making way for Forbidden West. Legends had held the top spot in the UK physical charts for the past three weeks. Fellow recent release Dying Light 2: Stay Human remains in the top three in third, moving down one spot from second last week. The ever-present Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains in the top five in fourth. Meanwhile, FIFA 22 from EA Sports is the fifth best-selling boxed game of the week.
After the announcement of Call of Duty 2022 is a Modern Warfare (2019) sequel, Call of Duty: Vanguard shoots up the charts from tenth to seventh. As usual, Minecraft remains in the top ten in eight. However, Grand Theft Auto V just misses out in eleventh.
Here is the full top ten:
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Pokémon Legends: Arceus
- Dying Light 2: Stay Human
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- FIFA 22
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Call of Duty: Vanguard

In other news, No Man’s Sky is receiving full Steam Deck support when the console launches later this week. EA has denied blaming Halo Infinite for Battlefield 2042 failure.
