George R. R. Martin Says Elden Ring Reviews Are ‘Music To The Ears’

George R. R. Martin says the reviews of Elden Ring are “music to the ears” in a recent blog post. The author worked with Hidetaka Miyazaki and the team at FromSoftware to bring the world of Elden Ring to life, with him having contributed to its worldbuilding.

George R.R Martin praises ‘megahit’ Elden Ring

The legendary writer says Elden Ring was years in the making and is taking the gaming world by storm. Despite his involvement in the game, Martin heaped praise on the team at FromSoftware:

Of course, almost all the credit should go to Hidetaka Miyazaki and his astonishing team of games designers who have been laboring on this game for half a decade or more, determined to create the best videogame ever.   I am honored to have met them and worked with them, and to have have played a part, however small, in creating this fantastic world and making ELDEN RING the landmark megahit that it is.

George R.R Martin has an impressive resume behind him. He is the writer of the critically-acclaimed fantasy novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, which was later adapted into HBO’s Game of Thrones.

Until release, Martin’s exact involvement with Elden Ring has been a mystery. He confirmed he worked on worldbuilding in this blog post, potentially writing the story behind the game’s characters, mythology, and world. Reports suggest Martin may have been keen to have more involvement with Elden Ring’s active development.  In an interview with New Yorker, game director Miyazaki confirmed he had restrictions on what Martin could do.
