Elden Ring Breaks Records Concurrent Players Sixth

Elden Ring Steam Concurrent Player Count Beats GTA 5 and Among Us Records

Elden Ring has become Steam’s sixth-biggest game ever for the number of concurrent players. At the time of this writing, this sweeping masterpiece by FromSoftware has an all-time peak of over 953,000 players, soaring past the numbers for other popular titles like Terraria, Among Us, and Grand Theft Auto 5.

Elden Ring continues to shatter records

For comparison to other FromSoftware titles, the critically-acclaimed Dark Souls 3 only ever achieved an all-time peak of over 129,900 players, which as it stands is approximately one-seventh of Elden Ring’s. Only five other titles can currently claim to have more concurrent players than Elden Ring’s: PUBG Battlegrounds, Lost Ark, Counter-Strike Global Offensive, Dota 2, and Cyberpunk 2077, according to SteamDB.

That said, Elden Ring is still on an upward trajectory and may surpass many of those titles given enough time. When the game launched on Steam two weeks ago, it had around 764,000 concurrent players, so it looks that it might overtake its competitors sooner rather than later. According to digital and physical data provided by GSD, the game had the largest UK video game launch since Call of Duty: Vanguard and claimed the top spot in its first week at launch over FIFA 22.

Since launch, players have been attempting to conquer The Lands Between, looking for strategies to make the game easier all while searching for clues revealing the lore behind the mysterious world. In GameRevolution’s review for Elden Ring, Senior Editor Jason Faulkner called it “an M-rated Breath of the Wild, full of secrets” and “one of the best open-world games ever made.” Even George R.R. Martin, who worked primarily on the backstory of Elden Ring’s hauntingly rich history, has been surprised and elated at the praise for the game.

In other news, Elden Ring has received maintenance across all platforms, as the developers continue to release patches to repair stability issues and framerate drops, particularly on the PC version of the game.
