Valkyrie Elysium Release Date Square Enix PS5 PS4

Square Enix Reveals PlayStation Exclusive Valkyrie Elysium

Valkyrie Elysium, the next entry in the expansive Valkyrie franchise, was revealed at PlayStation’s latest State of Play event, with the Valkyrie Elysium release date set for 2022. The new action-RPG will release as a PlayStation exclusive for PS5 and PS4. Surprisingly, the full 20-minute presentation, which highlighted Japanese developers, did not reveal any new details on Final Fantasy 16 or FF7 Remake Part 2, so Square Enix has seemingly positioned Valkyrie Elysium at the forefront of its upcoming catalog this year.

How Valkyrie Elysium is set at the end of humanity

Going through the short, 2-minute announcement trailer, Valkyrie Elysium reinterprets Norse mythology with gorgeous environments, a fast-paced combat system, and lots of pretty particle effects.

Duncan Heaney, web content editor for Square Enix, reveals more about Valkyrie Elysium in an official PlayStation blog post. The game will be set during Ragnarok, the ordained armageddon that will fall upon the world, but you are uniquely anointed to save the realms as a Valkyrie:

“With the last of his strength, the All-Father creates an emissary of redemption – a lone Valkyrie who can become the salvation of this doomed world. As this brave warrior descends into the ruined land, she encounters many challenges… and uncovers the hidden truth behind its impending destruction.

What will she think of this irrational world… and what end will she choose for it?”

By the way it’s been described there, Valkyrie Elysium could have multiple endings. What’s more certain is that the game will incorporate Einherjar summons, a familiar mechanic in the series, which will aid you in combat. Square Enix promises that Valkyrie Elysium will run in 4K at 60 fps on Playstation 5, while Motoi Sakuraba will return as the game’s composer. Since the Valkyrie Elysium release date has only been set at 2022 without a month in particular, there is a greater chance that the title will be delayed.

In other news, a new website celebrating Final Fantasy’s 35th anniversary has launched and the Korean MMO Lost Ark will eventually be getting rid of gender-locked classes and ‘revealing’ female outfits.
