Those who have chosen to have access to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will find the Nintendo 64 library has grown slightly. F-Zero X has become the 13th N64 title to be included in the Expansion Pack alongside nearly 20 SEGA Genesis games and DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
When is the F-Zero X release date?
F-Zero X was added to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack today, March 11. The game pits 30 different hover-cars, including the four original cars from its predecessor F-Zero, against each other in intergalactic Grand Prix races that last for three laps. The best racer across all of the six tracks wins the Grand Prix Cup. There’s also Time Trial mode where players aim to get the quickest time possible, and Death Race where the aim is to wipe out the other 29 rivals as quickly as possible. Finally, Versus mode can accommodate up to 4 players at once.
The game joins the Nintendo 64 Collection alongside The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Lylat Wars, Paper Mario, Yoshi’s Story, Dr. Mario 64, Mario Tennis, Banjo-Kazooie, Sin & Punishment, and Operation Winback. Its predecessor, F-Zero, is one of 51 SNES games available for all Nintendo Switch Online players to try out regardless of whether they subscribe to the Expansion Pack or not.
Three more Nintendo 64 titles have been promised to be added to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack soon – Pokemon Snap, Mario Golf, and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards – although we don’t know when that will be. Hopefully they’ll be added quite soon.
In other news, an Elden Ring fan has made an app that allows players to track quests and NPCs within the game. Shattered Ring is an iOS app currently available for $2.99 in the App Store. Elsewhere, Monster Hunter Rise is the latest game Nintendo Switch Online members can try for free. The trial is running right now.
