Today’s Pokemon Presents show has revealed that Pokemon Stadium 2 and Pokemon Trading Card Game are the next two games to be added to the Nintendo Switch Online collection. Both games were due to be added to Nintendo Switch Online shortly after the show ended.
Pokemon Stadium 2 and Trading Card Game are available now
Pokemon Trading Card Game was added to the Game Boy library today, August 8, 2023, shortly after the end of the Pokemon Presents showcase. Players with a basic Nintendo Switch Online membership will be able to play this game, and it’s the only Pokemon game available to players who have not subscribed to the Expansion Pack option.
Meanwhile, Pokemon Stadium 2 was also added to the Nintendo 64 library today. Players will need a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack to be able to play this game. Pokemon fans who do opt for this will also be able to play Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Stadium, and Pokemon Puzzle League, which are currently available in the same library, as well as the aforementioned Pokemon TCG.
Those hoping for the announcement that some of the mainline Pokemon games would be added to the service would have been disappointed. So far, neither Nintendo, Game Freak, nor The Pokemon Game Company have hinted that any of the mainline games will be added to the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service. However, Nintendo does like to drop surprise games onto the service each month (like they did today), so never say never.
There are more non-Pokemon games confirmed to be coming to Nintendo Switch Online at a later date. These are Mario Party 3, 1080o Snowboarding, and Excitebike 64 for the Nintendo 64 library, as well as Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, Golden Sun, and F-Zero Maximum Velocity for the Game Boy Advance library.
