Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands cross-play confirmed by Randy Pitchford
Randy Pitchford posted the following to Twitter to confirm cross-play for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands:
“Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will ship on March 25 with full cross play for all platforms at launch, including PlayStation. Incredible work from the engineers at Gearbox Software with thanks to our partners at 2k Games and 1st parties, including Sony, for working together on this.”
In recent times, cross-play has become more and more prevalent in multiplayer titles. Fortnite was the first to bring it fully mainstream. However, Sony was initially against the feature. Recently, the console manufacturer has changed its tune – we now see full cross-play in popular franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands cross-play announcement comes after the game was announced in June last year at Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest. It is a successor to Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, developed by Gearbox Software, published by 2K Games. The game retails at a full $60. In a statement released at the announcement, Pitchford said:
“Wonderlands is a culmination of over a decade of on-and-off development at Gearbox Software towards a Role-Playing Shooter set in a fantasy universe. For me, bringing actual Borderlands guns to fight dragons, skeletons, goblins and more in an original fantasy world imagined by the galaxy’s deadliest thirteen-year-old, Tiny Tina, as a new, full featured AAA videogame is a dream come true.”
