More Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Games Coming After Major Success

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands proved to be a much bigger success than Gearbox Software anticipated, the result being the team is already working on more new games set in that universe. These experiences are likely to be part of the unannounced titles Gearbox Publishing has in its future lineup for 2022 and beyond.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands was a “major victory” for Gearbox

The Borderlands franchise is already known to be incredibly popular amongst players, with previous publisher 2K Games reporting total sales of 72 million copies between the multitude of games. As a fantasy RPG spinoff, Gearbox evidently didn’t feel Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands would be as successful, but during Embracer Group’s annual general meeting, co-founder Randy Pitchford said the game had been “a major victory” having completely shattered their expectations:

“Gearbox Software achieved a major victory this past year with the launch of a new franchise, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Wonderlands shattered all of our target expectations, both critically and commercially, and I’m thrilled to report that in addition to great financial rewards from this victory that will be coming our way in the coming quarters, we have established a firm beachhead and we now clearly have a new franchise on our hands, with future experiences already under development at Gearbox.”

While Pitchford didn’t specify whether the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands experiences were new games or more DLC, it’s fair to assume there will be a new game in amongst the “several unannounced titles” Gearbox currently has in its lineup. In 2022 and beyond, the team has ten AAA titles spanning both established and original IP in development at Gearbox Software, as well as more than two dozen other games due to be published by Gearbox Publishing. This tally will include games like Homeworld 3, New Tales From The Borderlands, Blanc, and Hyper Light Breaker.

In other news, Fortnite leaks are reportedly becoming a “logistical headache” for Epic Games. Elsewhere, the Xbox September Update adds party chat noise suppression to Xbox One and PC amongst other new features.
