New Witcher Game CD Projekt Red Epic Game Exclusive

New Witcher Game and Series Revealed by CD Projekt Red

In a surprise out of nowhere, the official account of The Witcher on Twitter has revealed a teaser image revealing a new Witcher game in the series. The image has a picture of a silver wolf mask on a metal chain buried partway in the snow and with sharp, glowing red eyes. The words simply read “The Witcher” with an accompanying phrase “A New Saga Begins.”

What we know so far about the new Witcher game

In a post on the official website, CD Projekt Red has revealed that the next installment in the Witcher franchise is already in development and that it’s “kicking off a new saga for the franchise.” It’s unclear whether this means Geralt of Rivia or Yennefer of Vengerburg will make a return, or if this is an entirely new chapter in the series popularized by fantasy writer Andrzej Sapkowski.

CD Projekt RED also reveals that the game will be created in close collaboration with Epic Games and will be designed with an entirely different engine:

“This is an exciting moment as we’re moving from REDengine to Unreal Engine 5, beginning a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games. It covers not only licensing, but technical development of Unreal Engine 5, as well as potential future versions of Unreal Engine, where relevant. We’ll closely collaborate with Epic Games’ developers with the primary goal being to help tailor the engine for open-world experiences.”

The developer also ensures that this is merely an announcement that the game exists, and that no “development time frame or release date” has been set. Since REDengine was used for Cyberpunk 2077 and CD Projekt Red has had to rework the game with multiple bug fixes and patches since launch, let us hope that they can work out all of the glitches before this new Witcher game launches.

In other news, several men have reportedly been caught stealing 20 Nvidia video games in a Russian heist, and Square Enix has “no plans” to abandon Babylon’s Fall despite its very negative reception.
