Sony has unveiled the new free PlayStation Plus games for next month, April 2022, which this time will be a collection of three titles. All of them will arrive starting April 5. However, the March games will leave at the same time, so if you wish to continue playing them, do put them on the queue as soon as you can.
What are the free PlayStation Plus games for April 2022?
Through a post on the official PlayStation blog, Sony has revealed a small catalog of three games for PlayStation Plus in April 2022, most of which were released on the PlayStation 4:
- Hood: Outwards & Legends
- SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated
- Slay the Spire
Out of the bunch, the indie card-battler Slay the Spire is the most recommended. It’s an intricate roguelike card-builder that has you take a character and craft a unique deck based on the character’s particular powers and strengths. There are plenty of options to make the game more difficult as well, but reaching the end and defeating the final boss is a feat in and of itself.
On the multiplayer side is Hood: Outlaws & Legends, where rival gangs compete to perform the perfect heist. Sony hawks two specific modes: State Heist, which is a purely co-op mode where a team of players attempt to accumulate as much gold as possible; and Gold Rush, where two teams of four challenge each other to eliminate guards and one another as they steal treasure.
Last but not least is SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated (say that three times fast!), a remastered version of the original classic platformer. In the game, Plankton wants to take over Bikini Bottom using robots, but SpongeBob and the gang are fighting back. A second player can join as well, either online or offline, in the game’s horde mode.
That said, Playstation warns that March’s PlayStation Plus games—Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, Ark: Survival Evolved, Team Sonic Racing, and the PS5 version of Ghostrunner—will be removed after April 4. The fantastic JRPG Persona 5 will also be removed starting May 11.
In other news, you can play Call of Duty: Vanguard starting today during its two-week-long freeplay period, and Breath of the Wild 2 has unfortunately been delayed until 2023.
