Developer Cellar Door Games has revealed that Rogue Legacy 2 is set to leave early access later this month and will officially launch on PC and Xbox. The platformer is a sequel to the 2013 game and features roguelite elements along with a host of new gameplay features and improvements compared to its predecessor.
When will Rogue Legacy 2 leave early access?
According to Cell Door Games, Rogue Legacy 2 will leave early access on April 28. At this point, it will launch on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X as v1.0. The game has been in early access since 2020 and the developers have been working on it for a total of four years. In a statement, they confirmed that “Rogue Legacy 2 is finally reaching v1.0 and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out” adding that they “hope they find it as special as we do.”
Along with the announcement of the release date, a brand new trailer has been released for the game that showcases the fresh art style and updated gameplay. From what you can see in the footage, it appears as if the sequel will have far more variety when it comes to fighting enemies and traversing through the various procedurally generated dungeons. The trailer also features a fully animated sequence that sets up the action.
Rogue Legacy originally launched in 2013 and sees players having to search through a castle as they seek out four different bosses that they must defeat. Every time the player dies, a series of heirs are automatically generated and can be selected to continue the adventure. Each of them has unique abilities and characteristics, while some skills can be upgraded with gold found through the dungeons.
In other news, Two Point Campus has been pushed back meaning it will launch on Xbox Game Pass later than planned, and the latest Gears of War game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5 and could be open world.
