The Sega Genesis library has been expanded once again for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members. Sonic The Hedgehog Spinball, Shining Force II, and Space Harrier II will all be added to the Expansion Pack taking the total number of SEGA Genesis games to 25. Splatoon 2 DLC has also been added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
When is the new Nintendo Switch Online content being released?
Both the Splatoon 2 DLC and the three new Sega Genesis games were added to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack today, April 22. Splatoon 2 players will get access to the Octo Expansion, where players step into the shoes of an Octoling known as Agent 8. After waking up on a subway platform in the Deepsea Metro, Agent 8 must find his way back to the surface of Inkopolis by finding the four thangs and completing 80 missions full of challenges. Players can also join multiplayer matches as the new character.
Sonic The Hedgehog Spinball, Shining Force II, and Space Harrier II were the new Genesis games added to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Sonic The Hedgehog Spinball is a Sonic pinball game where the titular hedgehog must stop Dr. Robotnik from turning the animals of planet Mobius into slaves within his volcanic fortress. Shining Force II is a tactical RPG where the Shining Force team must defeat the demon king Zeon after a thief steals the jewels of Light and Darkness and sets him free. Finally, Space Harrier II is a rail shooter where Harrier must save Fantasy land from hostile forces.
Today’s new content is just the latest addition to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack as the company increases the value of the membership for players. We know that there are still two more Nintendo 64 titles to be added – Pokemon Snap and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards – although Nintendo hasn’t said when that will be.
In other news, the latest rumors suggest a Skate 4 collaborative free-skate multiplayer mode will let players build skateparks together. Elsewhere, more details have emerged about Halo Infinite’s King of the Hill, Land Grab, and Last Spartan Standing modes coming in Season 2.
