Co-Founders Leave Criterion Games

EA has confirmed that the two co-founders of Criterion Games, Alex Ward, vice president and creative director, and Fiona Sperry, studio director, have left the studio. Sperry later tweeted the confirmation.

EA provided the following statement to Polygon:

Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry have decided to leave EA. We appreciate their many contributions through the years and wish them well in their future endeavours.

The incredibly creative and talented team at Criterion are hard at work on a new project for next-gen consoles as new IP continues to be a major priority across EA.  Matt Webster is leading development of the new game and the Criterion studio moving forward. Matt has been part of Criterion for years and has an exciting vision for this new game.

Ward and Sperry formed Criterion Games in 2000, which was made famous by its popular Burnout games. More recently, EA gave Criterion the keys to running the Need for Speed franchise, but that has since been given to Ghost Games.

Maybe this means we'll get Burnout games again?
