Steam Deck Shipments Double

Steam Deck Shipments to Double from Tomorrow as Q3 Emails Go Out

Supply numbers seem to be getting better for Steam Deck as Valve has now promised they will be doubling the number of units shipped per week from tomorrow, June 28. The company will also be sending out emails to those with Q3 reservations beginning June 30 after production picked up.

Solving Steam Deck supply issues

Steam Deck is one of many devices that have seen delays due to component shortages. Its launch was pushed back by a couple of months before the device was finally released on February 25. Since then, numbers have been limited and Steam seems to be failing to meet demand with lengthy waitlists stretching beyond October 2022. However, the announcement that production has “picked up” meaning Valve can now ship “more than double the number of Steam Decks every week” means those issues do seem to be resolving themselves. Those with Q2 reservations should now have received their e-mails while those with Q3 reservations will start getting emails from June 30. If you’re expecting an email but haven’t received one yet, Valve advises that you log in to the Steam Deck section of the Steam Store to check your reservation progress.

Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the Steam Deck docking station that was delayed indefinitely at the start of the month. Component shortages and COVID closures at Valve’s manufacturing facilities have delayed the peripheral with more information promised for the future. Valve did say at the time that this would not affect the production of the Steam Deck consoles themselves as their parts are sourced from different factories.

In other gaming news, Nintendo will be holding a Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase tomorrow and it’s expected to show off NieR: Automata and the Persona franchise. Elsewhere, today’s Fall Guys update disabled the Daily Store temporarily but Mediatonic was hoping to have it back up ASAP.
