Destiny FPS Mobile Game Rumored to Be Coming From Bungie and NetEase

Rumors have resurfaced that Bungie and NetEase may be teaming up to create a Destiny mobile game. NetEase Games recently helped Bungie to create “an unannounced FPS mobile game” and anonymous sources have claimed this is a Destiny game that’s been in development for a couple of years already.

An artist at NetEase has recently posted they have helped to develop “an unannounced FPS mobile game.” According to The Game Post (thanks Reddit), sources with knowledge of NetEase’s development plans say this title is a Destiny mobile game that has already been in development for “well over two years”. This follows rumors of the game from several months ago after job listings revealed Bungie wanted to recruit several team members for a large mobile title in the Destiny franchise. Details of the game are thin on the ground but it is not believed to be related to Destiny 2. Bungie seems to be adjusting its own internal game engine to suit mobile platforms according to other previous job listings, but whether the engine will be used for this game is uncertain.

The collaboration shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise seeing as NetEase invested more than $100 million into Bungie back in 2019. At the time of the investment, Bungie CEO Pete Parsons said NetEase “also have a significant amount of experience in mobile we don’t have” and he was”very excited about the future where we’re beginning to incubate and explore new ideas”. Bungie is also looking to expand the Destiny franchise into movies and TV series after their acquisition by Sony, but there hasn’t been any official news on any Destiny multimedia projects yet.
