Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series fans have launched a #KLONOASWEEP campaign to promote the game collection in the hopes it will sell well enough for publisher Bandai Namco to consider making a sequel. Phantasy Reverie Series’ release date was today for PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Fans campaign to save the Klonoa franchise
The #KLONOASWEEP campaign is inspired by Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series producer Ryo Ishida. At the end of June, Ishida told game journal Lock-On (via VGC) that the idea behind the collection was to “spread awareness and reignite the Klonoa IP” on the franchise’s 25th anniversary. He then added that “if this remastered version is loved by the community, there might be opportunities to further expand the Klonoa IP and do other remasters of other titles as well.” Fans have taken this to heart by launching the campaign to promote awareness of the games and prompt publisher Bandai Namco to consider a sequel.
While the majority of people in the campaign are urging players to pick up Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series to get a sequel, some have come up with imaginative ways of spreading awareness. There’s a variety of artwork that can already be found on the Steam Community Hub, as well as a review that consists entirely of the lyrics of the Stepping Wind song from Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil. The game is currently second in the Steam top releases chart behind MADiSON, so something seems to be working at least for now. Those who aren’t sure whether they want to grab the game can try out the demo that launched on consoles on June 22 and features the first levels of both games in the series.
In other news, Pokemon Puzzle League will be coming to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack next week, but not in Japan. Elsewhere, today’s Fortnite update added stability fixes on PS5, PS4, Xbox, PC, and Android.
