Bayonetta Limited Edition Physical Release Coming to Switch Later This Year

Most attention may well be on the upcoming Bayonetta 3 right now, but Nintendo also mentioned the first Bayonetta game will be getting a limited-edition physical release on Nintendo Switch later this year. This will be the first time players will be able to own a physical edition of Bayonetta 1 on Switch as it has only ever been available as a digital download.

The physical version of Bayonetta on Nintendo Switch will be released on September 30. Limited numbers of the game will be available to preorder at select retailers, and it will also be available at launch in the My Nintendo Store at a price of $29.99. The release will mean that all three Bayonetta games will have physical versions on Switch. Fans will even be able to display them differently using reversible game cases that are part of the Bayonetta 3 Trinity Masquerade Edition launching a month later alongside the game’s standard edition.

Bayonetta 2 has already received a physical version on Switch, which is still readily available from most retailers. The game also included a code to download the digital version of Bayonetta through the Nintendo eShop. Alternatively, players have been able to get both Bayonetta 1 and 2 digitally on the Switch through the eShop, and purchasing one of the two games enabled players to get the other at a discounted price. Nintendo Switch will be the only platform where all three games will be available when Bayonetta 3 will complete the trilogy just shy of a month later on October 28.
