Is the Flash Movie Canceled? WB Reportedly Exploring Options After Ezra Miller Drama

Upcoming DCEU movie The Flash may not make it to the big screen, as lead actor Ezra Miller continues to make headlines for all the wrong reasons. Warner Bros. is reportedly now looking at three options for the film’s future following Miller’s citation for felony burglary after allegedly stealing alcohol from a home in Vermont. Here are the different paths the movie studio may go down and the answer to the most common question being asked by fans: is the Flash movie canceled?

Warner Bros. is considering three different paths

Warner Bros. is apparently under the impression that Miller is going to seek professional help (via THR), after being joined by their mother in recent days. If this happens, the studio would want the actor to give an interview and explain their controversial behavior. The Flash would then be released as planned, with Miller completing limited talks with the press and appearances.

Their second option is to release The Flash, even if Miller decides not to get help. Miller in this scenario would not be a part of marketing or publicity for the movie, with their role being recast in any future projects.

Finally, the most drastic and for now, least likely scenario, would be for Warner Bros. to shelve the film entirely. This would only happen if Miller’s controversies continue to get worse. They would be unable to reshoot the movie, which cost $200 million, as Miller is in almost every scene and plays multiple characters.

When is The Flash going to be released?

Miller first picked up the role of The Flash in 2014, which was also when a solo movie following the superhero was announced. After such a long development project, it would be a shame not to see some sort of Flash film be released. Also starring Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as different versions of the Caped Crusader himself, Batman, it is sure to be a treat for hardcore DC fans.

The Flash is still scheduled for release in theaters on June 23, 2023.

In other news, the She-Hulk episode 1 runtime has been revealed ahead of its Disney Plus premiere, and HBO’s The Last of Us TV show has added brother duo Henry and Sam into the cast.
