FIFA 23 Marvel Collaboration Announced With FUT Heroes Cards

EA Sports has announced a surprise FIFA 23 Marvel collaboration that will have select soccer players be turned into FUT Heroes cards. For the FIFA 23 Ultimate Team game mode, EA will be adding versions of various iconic players as digital cards reimagined and inspired by Marvel Comics. The portraits for these cards have been redesigned to give them suits, capes, and other accessories fit for superheroes.

Similar to Heroes cards introduced for the first time in FIFA 22, this crazy crossover aims to celebrate the cult hero status of numerous soccer players. A select number of these players will receive a special illustrated FUT item at the launch of the World Cup game mode on November 11. Base versions of FUT Heroes will be available at launch of FIFA 23 on September 30.

As pictured in the images above, the only soccer players that we know who are getting this Marvel Hero treatment are Yaya Touré, Park Ji-Sung, Donovan, and Marchisio. That said, we imagine that many more will be added than just these four when the World Cup mode is ready. The special versions of these cards will feature better stats and honor the soccer player’s key moments in international careers, whereas the base versions are meant to showcase their club careers.

The collaboration will also include kits, balls, tifos, and more as vanity items to help round out the Marvel-inspired event. Also in the works is an online Marvel Heroes comic book with Marvel written bios, ostensibly for each chosen FIFA 23 FUT Hero, with limited physical quantities to be made available at a later date. Those who pre-order FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition by August 21 will get a limited time FIFA World Cup Hero item as well

In other news, the Beyond Good and Evil 2 release date is probably “another couple of years away” according to insider Tom Henderson, and Dangerous Driving 2 has become an open-world arcade racer called Wreckreation.
