Oscar-nominated actress Catherine Keener will be joining the cast of Joker: Folie á Deux. Keener will have a major role in this ensemble cast, but there is no word yet on who her character is. Keener has previously appeared in high-profile work such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Get Out, and she appeared in The Adam Project earlier this year.

She will join Joaquin Phoenix, who will be reprising his role as Arthur Fleck/Joker. Another returning cast member is Zazie Beetz as Arthur’s neighbor, Sophie Dumond. This cast also includes Lady Gaga, who will be portraying Harley Quinn in this movie musical that continues the story of the DC villain. Additionally, Brendan Gleeson will be in the cast of the film, making this a promising cast of talented actors.

Todd Phillips, the director of the first film, will be returning to direct this sequel. He co-writes the script with Scott Silver, who wrote the original movie. The film is believed to be set after the original, with the Joker confined in Arkham Asylum. With the sequel getting more cast announcements, we never know who else we can expect to see on the big screen. However, Joker: Folie á Deux is sure to be a gripping, thrilling sequel that may step up the series with its musical direction and bold creative choices.

Joker: Folie à Deux is set for release in October 2024.
