Indiegogo Campaign Launched for Sequel to Shaq Fu

An Indiegogo campaign has been launched with a target of $450,000 to create a sequel to Shaq Fu.

If you're waiting for a punchline, sorry; not only is that an actual project, the campaign head is none other than retired NBA superstar and star of the original Shaq Fu, Shaquille O'Neal.

O'Neal, along with new studio Big Deez Productions, which claims to be made up of vets from games like Street Fighter, Halo, and Final Fantasy, are looking for the funds to create a modern day beat-'em-up starring the 7'1” 325-pound former center for the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers. Tagged Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn, the development team promises the only two things that this game and the 1994 flop will have in common are the title and the star, calling the original “an abomination that was born in the nineties.” At least they know what they're working with.

The campaign promises co-op play and destructive environments, as well as some donation rewards that can only be described as “very unique.” For example, fans of Instagram can kick down $500 and receive a follow from Shaq. Want to take the Shaq love to YouTube? $750 will get you a personalized message from the big man himself. And for the low, low price of $15,000, you could be "Ballin' at Shaq's Shack" to play a game of pick-up basketball with the 2000 NBA MVP to be broadcast online.

For those who want a better sense of the project (and come on, who doesn't?) check out the teaser trailer above.
