Ubisoft to Make Last-Gen Assassin’s Creed Games “for the Foreseeable Future”

Earlier this year, Ubisoft revealed the next entry in the Assassin's Creed franchise, subtitled Unity, which will be coming only to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. However, it looks like another title is being developed with last-gen platforms in mind, as Ubi has made it clear it plans to continue to support PS3 and Xbox 360 for quite some time.

During an investor call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot discussed the future of the franchise, saying:

Assassin's Creed: Unity will be another major entry in the franchise's history. The game will showcase the city of Paris with amazing next-gen graphics and will incorporate great new innovations that will be revealed at E3.

The title will be released this fall on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. We have not disclosed our plan yet for the Xbox 360 and PS3 SKUs, however we have made it clear as a company that we will expect to continue supporting both consoles for the foreseeable future.

Are you happy about Ubisoft's continued commitment to last-gen hardware, or is it time for the company to move on and focus all of its efforts on Xbox One and PlayStation 4?
