Hogwarts Legacy has crossed the impressive benchmark of 1 million concurrent viewers on Twitch. In fact, at the time of this writing, the game has surpassed 1.3 million viewers. This is despite protests boycotting Hogwarts Legacy due to controversial comments made by JK Rowling and other Twitch streamers like Hasan saying that many won’t be streaming Hogwarts Legacy due to bullying.
Hogwarts Legacy breaks Top 20 for highest peak viewers on Twitch
To put the 1.3 million figure into context, this would place Hogwarts Legacy around 14th place for the highest number of peak viewers in Twitch history. Lost Ark, which sits in 14th place based on TwitchTracker, had a peak of 1.27 million viewers while Rust, currently in 13th place, secured 1.36 million viewers.
Given that the game is only in early access at this time, this number could continue to grow over the next few days and catapult even higher during its global launch on February 10. This figure is also impressive since Hogwarts Legacy has no multiplayer component unlike the majority of the most popular games on Twitch.
One of the reasons behind these extraordinary numbers is the Hogwarts Legacy Twitch Drops promotion, which gives players up to five exclusive cosmetic items like Merlin’s Cloak in the game. These are earned by watching about two and a half hours of Hogwarts Legacy on the platform.
