Not even developer Daedalic Entertainment or publisher Nacon can ignore how low the Lord of the Rings: Gollum reviews have been. The teams put out a statement about its quality and apologized for what came out.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum reviews have been among the lowest of the year
“We would like to sincerely apologize for the underwhelming experience many of you had with The Lord of the Rings: Gollum upon release,” reads the tweet from the game’s Twitter account. “We acknowledge and deeply regret that the game did not meet the expectations that we set for ourselves and for our community. Please accept our sincere apologies for any disappointment this game has caused.”
The rest of the statement goes into its numerous technical problems and that updates are being planned to address them. While many reviews cited bugs and glitches, they also unanimously criticized various mechanical problems, ones that updates won’t be able to feasibly solve. Regardless, Daedalic said it is actively monitoring feedback and constructive criticism, of which there is plenty to choose from. The teams will also provide updates on the updates when they become available.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollums reviews have been quite brutal, as the stealth adventure title currently sits at a 40 on OpenCritic. The troubled, oft-delayed game was widely panned for its visuals, mechanics, story, and, as was previously mentioned, many bugs.
