Stranger Things VR Trailer Shows Vecna’s Power, New Release Date Window

Stranger Things VR was announced in November 2022, but developer Tender Claws revealed very little about the licensed virtual reality game based on the hit Netflix show after. The studio has now put out a new trailer for the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase, revealing that its release has been moved to fall 2023.

The Stranger Things VR release date window has been moved up slightly

It’s only a small bump, as the game was initially announced for winter 2023. And aside from the new window, the trailer from the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase shows more of Vecna’s great power, who players can control in the game, and the heavily stylized and twisted world he finds himself in.

Stranger Things VR’s listing is also up on Meta’s storefront, and notes that the title will be $29.99 with an extra 10% discount for those who pre-order. The trailer is a little vague, but the store page gives a little more context and says that the game follows Vecna as he “explores unknown realities, forms the hive mind, and enacts his plan for revenge against Eleven and Hawkins.”

Stranger Things VR was only announced for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and the newly revealed Meta Quest 3. There’s no word if it will come to PlayStation VR2 or PC VR sometime down the line. However, ports seems likely, as Tender Claws said on Twitter that “additional platforms for STVR will be announced at a later date.”
