The High on Life DLC had previously gotten a very vague teaser trailer, but now Squanch Games has released a slightly less vague teaser trailer. This latest High on Knife DLC trailer gives quick glimpses of the expansion that show off its darker setting.
The High on Life DLC doesn’t have a release date, though
High on Knife is coming out in fall 2023 and looks more like a horror game inspired by Alien and Event Horizon instead of DLC to a shooter filled with toilet humor. The trailer quickly cuts between different, dimly lit scenes aboard some sort of vessel before cutting to a giant monstrous being named Mux, who is voiced by Gabourey Sidibe (known for her starring role in the 2009 film Precious). Knifey, the character the title is referring to, then apologizes to the player for getting them wrapped up into this.
Squanch noted that High on Knife will have new characters, hazards, a “hyper-violent new upgrade” for Knifey, “spooky surprises,” a talking gun named Harper that’s voiced by Saturday Night Live’s Sarah Sherman, and a pinball gun with tiny gibberish-speaking aliens on it that are voiced by Alec Robbins, narrative director at Squanch (and the person who made the Eggman game from I Think You Should Leave Season 3).
It seems like Sherman’s gun could be the new pistol since the pistol that showed up in the trailer didn’t seem like it was Kenny, the default gun that was played by studio co-founder Justin Roiland. Roiland resigned from Squanch in January 2023 after it came out that he was arrested and charged with felony domestic battery and false imprisonment (the case was later dismissed). He is also being recast for Rick and Morty.
