More Resident Evil Remakes Are Coming, Capcom Confirms

Given the enormous success of the remake of the fourth Resident Evil game, it’s not surprising that fans are clamoring for more. Such hopes may not be wasted, as it’s recently been confirmed that Capcom is keen on doing modern takes on more games in the iconic horror series.

Don’t know which one, though

In a recent PlayStation partner awards, as translated by IGN, director of Resident Evil 4 Remake Yasuhiro Anpo said that the studio is interested in remaking other games in the RE brand.

Anpo is quoted as saying that, since a remake “allows a modern audience to play these games, it is something I am happy to do as someone that loves these older games, and we want to continue doing more.”

However, at this stage, we don’t know exactly which Resident Evil games will be next in line. While there are not many left in the main series that could arguably be ripe for reimagining, there are the spinoffs to consider.

For example, the prequel Resident Evil 0 released on Nintendo GameCube way back in 2002, while Code Veronica is even earlier, coming out in 2000 on the Sega Dreamcast. However, there are rumors that RE5 could be next. Essentially, Capcom still has a few to pick from.

The remake of Resident Evil 4 is the latest in the Japanese studio’s attempts to breathe new life into the earlier entries in the series. It was received with open arms by fans and critics alike when it dropped in March of this year.

Given that these classics have been successfully brought into the modern gaming era, a lot of eyes and ears will be trained on Capcom to find out which other Resident Evil game is worthy of a remake
