The Govee Neon Rope Light 2 aims to take what made the first version so great and improve upon it by making it easier to set up and customize. Govee offers a more costly but less headache-inducing solution for those looking to create a custom RGB shape. After going through the easy setup process, customizing the colors to my liking, and making sure my review sample stayed on the wall, it’s time for my review.
An upgrade
During the unboxing process, I first noticed the upgraded bend clips. Then I played around with the rope, taking note of its increased flexibility and lighter weight. While the cut weight isn’t that noticeable when holding the product in my hands, I’m sure it will help keep a design stuck to the wall.
In terms of choosing a design, Govee offers many different options within its app complete with recommended points to put the bending clips. Otherwise, users can come up with their own designs.
I’d urge users to take their time when choosing a design, especially when it comes to finally sticking it to a surface. Thankfully, the added flexibility of the Neon Rope Light 2 makes small adjustments easier.
RGB, I choose you!
Once everything is up on the wall, the RGB fun can begin. The Govee app offers an exceptional level of customization. There’s even a “Lighting Bot” that can assist in creating a specific look for particular scenarios. It all works incredibly well, with Govee remaining the master when it comes to RGB lighting in the home.
After playing around with many different lighting combinations, I eventually settled on an animated gradient of white and teal. I think it looks fantastic, with the material diffusing the individual LEDs to give a consistent look, similar to the neon lighting that has clearly inspired the product’s name.
The Neon Rope Light 2 is also compatible with many home assistants, making it easy to integrate the latest Govee product into your current setup.
Premium products come with a premium price tag
When it comes to downsides, pricing comes to mind. While the Neon Light Rope 2 does feel like a premium product with a polished accompanying app, Govee can only do so much to make the setup process easier. Ultimately, if you choose a complex design, it may be a challenge to get right, so I’d advise potential buyers to think about what they are getting themselves into and be ready to commit an hour or two to get their design just right.
Final Verdict
Starting at $69.99, the Govee Neon Rope Light 2 improves on its predecessor with an easier setup process. Its enhanced flexibility and user-friendly app make creating custom lighting designs straightforward. While it’s priced higher and intricate setups may take time, the end result is impressive. For premium customizable lighting, the Govee Neon Rope Light 2 is a solid choice.
