Govee x Evangelion Gaming Wall Light Review

The Govee x Evangelion Gaming Wall Light is a collaboration between two giants: one is a decorative lighting titan, and the other is one of the most stylish shows out there. Combined, Govee should be able to do Evangelion justice, bringing stylized lighting to passionate fans’ setups. Has the company achieved this? Here is my review.

From the get-go, it’s clear that Govee has put effort into nailing the Evangelion look of the Gaming Wall Light. With the outer packaging removed, a vibrant purple box remains, which unfolds to reveal the well-protected lighting, connecting pieces, controller, and power cable.

The purple EVA-01-inspired theme continues into the Wall Lights themselves, as they have a purple base. They look great, even when powered down. The connectors are purple, too, with Govee really going the extra mile to carry the theme through.

To help achieve its impressive RGB lighting effects, the Gaming Wall Light features a 3D design, with both a lighting strip and LED base. This combination, especially at full brightness, is impressively bright and vibrant.

Easy setup, but take your time

As with the standard Gaming Wall Lights, the Evangelion variant is simple enough but I’d advise users to set aside an extra bit of time to plan their design and carefully execute it. This isn’t something you want to rush. With that said, most designs will be plugged in and ready to go within 20-30 minutes, depending on complexity.

Buyers will find six light sections, one square connector, one triangle connector, nine connecting pieces, the power adapter, a cleaning cloth, and a manual. The included components allow for a decent variety of designs, though the two total connectors could surprise users aiming for more complex designs. For those who want to push things further, additional packs will need to be purchased.

Killer app

Once a design is set up, customization is achieved through the polished Govee Home app. Over the past few years and with each new product released, Govee has worked to make this app fluid and flawless. It’s easy to register your design and then customize the lighting style you desire. The Evangelion Wall Lights come with their own unique themes, too, so fans of the show can display their fandom in style.

Like other Govee products, the Gaming Wall Lights are Matter-supported, meaning they can talk to Alexa and Google devices.
