Ubisoft Forgets Physical Copy of Game, Half-Heartedly Apologizes

The US version of the $100 limited edition of Might & Magic Heroes VII was supposed to have a physical disc of the game (just like the EU version). Instead, customers need to issue tickets to Ubisoft so that the game is activated in their account. Talk about a deceptively roundabout way to get a game you purchased.

As this Imgur image reveals, the main page for the game advertises a PC DVD for the Collector's Edition, Ubisoft unwrapped the Collector's Edition on Twitch showing the DVD case, and there seems to be an obvious slot for the physical box to be included in the package. A 98-page thread in Ubisoft's forum for the game shows just how many people have been affected.

Ubisoft has released a statement, changed the official page for the game in its store, and is finally offering complete refunds as well as a free game from the following list—Far Cry 4, Assassin's Creed Rogue, The Crew, Toy Soldiers: War Chest Hall of Fame Edition, or Zombi.

However, another statement revealed by Gamespot makes it seem as though it's the purchaser's fault:

Ubisoft regrets any confusion created by the marketing materials from our Might and Magic Heroes VII Collector's Edition. We understand that some customers in North America were not aware the Collector's Edition delivered digital versions of the game and soundtrack. Ubisoft apologizes for any frustration and disappointment resulting from these items being in digital format vs. physical format.

Well, it's hard to be aware of something that doesn't exist…
