The Quordle 173 answer is now solved for July 16, 2022. Today’s puzzle can be seen as a reward if you made it through yesterday’s slog. None of the words in the solution should give you too many issues, apart from possibly one with a double letter and another that is a bit of a rare noun and has only one uncommon consonant. There’s even a word that isn’t really seen outside of literary works, but it has fairly common letters so you likely don’t need to worry about it. If we had to pick which word deserves a hint, it’s the one in the top-right position. It is generally used to describe raw ore after it’s been worked by a blacksmith in a certain way. For the full answer, it’s been posted in the next paragraph.
What is Quordle answer 173? (July 16, 2022)
The Quordle answer 173 is:
- “SULLY”
- “INGOT”
- “DINER”
- “TRICE”
“INGOT” isn’t a word used in everyday language, so it may take you a bit to figure it out if you’re unfamiliar with this term for a metal bar. Those of you who have played Skyrim or who know about blacksmithing might get “INGOT” a lot quicker. Otherwise, there aren’t a lot of other words that are similar to it in construction; there aren’t a lot of five-letter words that end in “-GOT.” Luckily, all the letters apart from the “G” are common, so if you can figure out where they fit in the word, you’ll get the “G” in the middle.
Both “DINER” and “TRICE” shouldn’t be tough, despite “TRICE” being used in the rather rare idiom “in a trice.” Since all of them have common letters, you’ll get most, if not all, of the letters in yellow or green if you use the general strategy of clearing the majority of high-frequency letters at the start of the puzzle. Most likely, you’ll leave “SULLY” until the end, but the double “L” isn’t too risky to try.
In other news, the physical release for the Bayonetta Limited Edition is coming to Switch later this year, and Chadwick Boseman has received a posthumous Emmy nomination.
