Red Dead Online Beta

Red Dead Online Beta Release Date and Details

Red Dead Online was announced today and will be an online experience set in RDR2‘s open world. We got news of a Red Dead Online Beta that will take place as well. The RDR2 Online beta release date isn’t set yet, but we do have an approximate time along with a few other details.

The RDR2 Online beta will not release with the full game on October 26. Instead, online multiplayer will be available in November as a public beta.

Red Dead Online will allow you to play alone or with friends, and according to Rockstar, it will receive constant content updates. It sounds as though Red Dead Online will function much like GTA Online does now, though full details haven’t been released yet.

Since RDR2 takes place in 1899, there’s obviously going to be some play differences between RDR Online and GTA Online. So far we know that Rockstar is, “blending narrative with competitive and cooperative gameplay in fun new ways.” I hope that’s really code for tons of horse bling. It’ll be interesting to see how the studio adapts the Western motif for online play.

Red Dead Online will be free to all owners of Red Dead Redemption 2, and since no word of a private beta has been mentioned, you can assume that everyone will get access at around the same time.

No date has been announced for the full release of Red Dead Online, and we don’t know what, if any, limitations will be imposed in the beta.

The beta will be available on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, though, again, we don’t know if it’ll launch on both consoles simultaneously or not. However, as vague as the online details are, we’re pumped enough for what’s looking to be an excellent single-player experience.

You can buy Red Dead Redemption 2—and by extension access to the Red Dead Online beta—starting on October 26, 2018, on PS4 and Xbox One.
