Destiny 2 Crimson Catalyst – How to Get the Masterwork

Destiny 2 has a lot of weapons, and the best upgrades you can get for those weapons are the Masterwork catalysts. These can be quite tricky to get, such as the Sleeper Stimulant exotic catalyst which you’ll need to obtain in the Spire of Stars Prestige Raid. The Destiny 2 Crimson Catalyst, for the Crimson exotic hand cannon, can be especially hard to get hold of. Let us show you where to go, how to get the catalyst, and what bonuses it adds to the weapon.

How to Get the Destiny 2 Crimson Catalyst

Sadly there isn’t a specific place or way to get the Destiny 2 Crimson Catalyst, but the good news is that you can get it anywhere. The Crimson exotic catalyst can drop anywhere, by simply killing enemies in PvE. Just keeping on playing the game and its expansions, killing enemies as they come in any activity, and eventually the catalyst will drop.

After that, you’ll need to unlock the catalyst. The Crimson exotic catalyst specifically can be unlocked by getting 300 precision kills, or headshot kills. It’ll take a little time to do, but eventually you’ll unlock it, and you’ll have the Masterwork for the Crimson exotic hand cannon.

What Does the Crimson Catalyst Get You?

Unlocking the Crimson Catalyst will upgrade the Crimson hand cannon to a Masterwork. The main bonus you’ll get from unlocking the exotic catalyst is +20 range for the hand cannon, which isn’t too bad at all. The gun will now also generate Orbs when you get multiple kills in quick succession, and it can additionally be upgraded further to make it even more powerful, and with more perks. Finally, the Crimson hand cannon gains a tracker that displays a count of enemies you killed by using it. It’s certainly worth doing if you’re planning to use the Crimson a lot, especially as it’s a lot easier to get its catalyst than with many other weapons in the game.
